Choosing the Right Type of PCP for You

A primary care provider, or PCP, can be a doctor (MD) who specializes in family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, LGBTQ+ health or senior care. Your PCP can also be a physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP). Knowing the difference between these different specialties can help you make the best decision to find the right PCP for your health needs. All PCPs provide preventative care, routine screenings, immunizations and ongoing care of chronic health conditions.
