Dr. Selby is a professor of surgery at the Keck School of Medicine. A renowned surgeon in cancers of the pancreas and liver, Dr. Selby's thriving practice serves people looking for expert care in the Los Angeles area and beyond. Dr. Selby graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri.
Before joining USC, Dr. Selby served on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh, where he participated in 700 liver transplantations, 200 of which he performed personally. Dr. Selby is board certified in general surgery and general surgical critical care. He was recruited from The University of Pittsburgh to start Keck Medicine of USC’s liver transplant program in 1995 and served as chief of the division for 23 years. In his distinguished career, Dr. Selby has trained more than 50 transplant surgeons who are now participating in transplant programs throughout the world. Dr. Selby continues to push forward toward new treatments and new ideas. His research interests include small intestinal transplantation, xenotransplantation, cellular transplantation, fulminant hepatic failure, transfusion-free surgery and transplantation for pediatric metabolic disease.
