All decisions for care made between a physician and her patient must be collaborative. The role of the physician is to provide her expertise, offer available options for care, and consider the patient's values, goals and desires, and together they make a decision as to the next steps in care. Good open communication between the physician and the patient is critical, and I pride myself on being a good listener who takes the time to understand. I believe in involving the patients in their own care, through providing condition specific medical information and answering treatment related questions. I also believe in offering cutting edge treatment options tailored to the specific needs of each patient's perspective so that I can best guide her to the appropriate treatment options.
