In November of 2013, Dr. Hisham Tchelepi joined the Department of Radiology at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, and currently serves as the Ultrasound Section Chief with the department's body division.
Before joining USC, Dr. Tchelepi was the Director of Ultrasound at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. During his tenure at Wake Forest, he worked with manufactures to improve and develop new diagnostic ultrasound technologies. He also serves as a leader in the field of Fusion Ultrasound with CT/MRI and PET imaging. His expertise has improved interventional procedures performed under ultrasound guidance with the importance of minimizing radiation dose to patients and operators alike.
Dr. Tchelepi has lectured and been invited to many academic institutions as a visiting professor to share his expertise and knowledge in ultrasound technology- both nationally and internationally. Dr. Tchelepi is dedicated to resident education and has been recognized as teacher of the year both at USC and Wake Forest University. His passion for research is focused on improving image quality and contrast sonography.
Dr. Tchelepi is the author of numerous book chapters and one book. He also reviews many radiology and ultrasound journals. In addition, Dr. Tchelepi has worked on topics specific to ultrasound for the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria.
His interests are focused on the role of Elastography in evaluating the degree of fibrosis in chronic disease and the use of contrast ultrasound in cancer imaging.
