At Keck Medicine of USC, we provide expert consultation and second-opinion review of tissue biopsies and surgical pathology specimens. Our pathologists carefully examine tissue samples to identify disease, confirm diagnoses and help guide treatment decisions.
We review complex and challenging cases from across the United States and around the world in gastrointestinal and liver pathology, breast pathology, genitourinary pathology, dermatopathology, neuropathology and hematopathology.
Whether your case is submitted digitally or by glass slides, our goal is to provide an accurate diagnosis and the diagnostic clarity that patients and their physicians need to make informed decisions about care.
When appropriate, our pathologists provide recommendations regarding additional ancillary studies, molecular testing, immunohistochemical stains or other diagnostic evaluations that may help further characterize a disease and support patient management.
Our pathologists provide expert consultation and second-opinion review for a wide range of anatomic pathology cases. We evaluate tissue biopsies, surgical specimens and other pathology materials to help confirm diagnoses and provide additional diagnostic insight for complex or challenging cases.

Cases may be submitted digitally through whole-slide imaging whenever available, allowing for rapid review and consultation. We also accept traditional glass slides from institutions that do not have digital pathology capabilities.

We emphasize digital pathology consultation whenever possible, enabling efficient review of cases from across the United States and around the world. For institutions without digital pathology capabilities, we also accept traditional glass slides.
Our consultation reports provide diagnostic clarity that helps patients and their physicians make informed decisions about treatment and care.
As part of Keck Medicine, we work closely with nationally recognized clinical programs and can facilitate referral to the appropriate specialty services when additional clinical evaluation or treatment is needed.
