Terrence Pong, MD, PhD, is a cardiac surgeon with Keck Medicine of USC. He earned his MD from the University of California, San Francisco, and completed his PhD in medical engineering and medical physics through the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology. He completed his integrated cardiothoracic surgery residency at Stanford University.
Dr. Pong has a deep clinical interest in the surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation and cardiac arrhythmias. He has specialized expertise in hybrid and minimally invasive procedures, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). He also has significant experience with advanced cardiac surgeries, such as valve repair, and complex coronary interventions.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Pong is a committed surgeon-scientist whose research focuses on advancing cardiac electrophysiology. He has led the development of 3D-printed patient-specific electrode arrays for epicardial mapping and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on atrial fibrillation and surgical innovation. His work bridges engineering and medicine, with a mission to translate cutting-edge technologies into meaningful improvements in patient care.
