Matthew Abad-Santos, MD, is a board-certified interventional radiologist with Keck Medicine of USC. He specializes in venous interventions, hepatobiliary interventions, interventional oncology and embolotherapy.
For Dr. Abad-Santos, the most important aspect of the doctor-patient relationship is transparency. He is committed to communicating openly and thoroughly with his patients about their diagnoses, as well as the risks and benefits of different treatment options. Throughout the care journey, he makes it his mission to honor their values and make sure they feel heard.
After earning his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Abad-Santos stayed on for an internship with their surgery department, then went on to a residency in diagnostic radiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. An independent residency in interventional radiology at the University of Washington in Seattle completed his formal training.
Dr. Abad-Santos serves as an assistant professor of clinical radiology in the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology for the Keck School of Medicine of USC. His research interests focus on advances in the treatment of deep vein thrombosis, or blood clots of the veins, along with liver diseases such as portal hypertension.
Dr. Abad-Santos grew up in Huntington Beach, California. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, experimenting on the guitar and learning photography.
