Kevin Collon, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with Keck Medicine of USC fellowship-trained in sports medicine. Dr. Collon specializes in treating cartilage and ligament injuries as well as instability of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. He also treats hip labral tears and hip impingement, as well as shoulder and knee osteoarthritis, and performs shoulder and partial knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Collon believes the most important aspect of patient care is building trust and treating every patient like a member of his own family. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami, completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Southern California and earned his orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest University.
Dr. Collon’s research interests focus on developing novel strategies to slow the progression of osteoarthritis and to regenerate or regrow cartilage around the knee joint. He is particularly interested in biologic and gene therapy approaches that aim to restore joint function and improve long-term outcomes for patients with degenerative joint conditions.
When he’s not at work, Dr. Collon enjoys staying active, taking trips to the beach and spending time with his wife, Kelly, a pediatrician, their two young sons, Austin and Casey, and the family’s golden retriever, Cooper.
Entrusting someone with one’s medical care — whether that is in the form of surgery or by nonoperative means — is a difficult and often stressful decision, and I do not take that lightly. My goal is to provide high-quality, evidence-based, individualized care, and above all to always leave my patients feeling heard and never forgotten.
