Jina Sohn, MD, specializes in cardiology, with a particular interest in echocardiography and structural echocardiography, which detects defects or disorders in the heart's structure, such as its valves.
Dr. Sohn is board certified in internal medicine with specialty certification in cardiovascular disease, along with certification from the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and National Board of Cardiology. Her background in bioengineering has helped influence her research interests in heart failure, valve disease and echocardiography, including advanced ultrasound-based cardiac monitoring devices.
A participant in the American College of Cardiology’s Clinical Training Research Program, she has served as co-investigator and principal investigator on studies about echocardiography devices and techniques, cancer immunotherapy and cardiac function, takotsubo cardiomyopathy, mitral valve replacement and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, among other topics.
Dr. Sohn was born in South Korea and moved to the United States at the age of 9, where she grew up in Maryland. She enjoys spending time with her dog, hiking and movies.
