About Jessica J. Tamashiro, CCC-SLP
Jessica Tamashiro, MS, CCC-SLP, is a licensed speech-language pathologist, who specializes in working with patients with head and neck cancer who have difficulty with swallowing and communication. Additionally, she cares for patients with voice issues, brain injuries, spine injuries, neurodegenerative conditions, cardiothoracic conditions and tracheostomies. She also cares for post-transplant patients.

Tamashiro conducts speech, communication, voice, cognitive-linguistic and swallow evaluations for adults in a variety of settings, including outpatient, acute hospital and rehabilitation. She specializes in tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis management, modified barium swallow study (videofluoroscopy) and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES). She also provides guidance on aspiration precautions and texture-modified diets.

In addition to her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), she holds certifications in voice therapy and swallowing impairments (LSVT and MDTP). She earned the Ruth Harris Award for Clinical Excellence from the College of Health and Human Development at California State University, Northridge.

Tamashiro grew up in Hong Kong and moved to Southern California during high school. In addition to English, she speaks Cantonese and Mandarin. She devotes her free time to her husband and children.
