Dr. Buxbaum is a national leader in the fields of advanced endoscopy and pancreatology. He is the lead author of national guidelines for the care of patients with disease of the bile duct and pancreas. His research interest include contrast endoscopic ultrasound, new methods to diagnose gastrointestinal cancers at early phases, and cutting-edge strategies to manage pancreatitis. He serves as Associate Editor of the leading endoscopy journal, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, has led multiple high-impact clinical trials and has an active research program funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Buxbaum performs complex endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), pseudocyst and necrosis management, complex tissue resection including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and double balloon enteroscopy, Additionally, he actively manages patients with complex diseases of the pancreas, bile duct, and small bowel.
