Cynthia Cherfane, MD, is a gastroenterologist with Keck Medicine of USC who specializes in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis and celiac disease.
Dr. Cherfane’s thorough, detail-oriented approach to care is instrumental in building trust with patients. She listens closely to patients’ concerns and strives to foster a collaborative, supportive relationship so that they feel empowered in their treatment journey.
Dr. Cherfane earned her medical degree from Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut. She then completed her internal medicine internship at Hôtel-Dieu de France in Beirut and went on to an internal medicine residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center completed her medical training.
A strong believer in the value of education and ongoing research, Dr. Cherfane serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine (clinician educator) with the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Her research interests include nutrition in IBD, biomarkers in IBD and quality improvement in gastroenterology and IBD care.
Dr. Cherfane is passionate about bringing the latest scientific insights and advancements into the clinical setting, where they can be directly applied to her patients’ recovery and improved quality of life.
