How to Seek Care

Ask your care team at USC Student Health or other campus organizations if you need psychiatric care.

A referral from USC Counseling and Mental Health Services is generally needed to make an appointment with us. We will work with you to verify insurance coverage.

Insurance Information

  • If you are covered by the USC Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), you may be responsible for a copayment or a percentage of the cost of service (known as coinsurance), depending on the service we provide.
  • If you have a non-SHIP plan, your cost of care will vary, depending on your plan.
  • If you have Medi-Cal, your plan does not cover services through our clinic. However, USC Student Health can help you find doctors who accept Medi-Cal. You can also receive care through USC Counseling and Mental Health Services.

Why Choose Us for Psychiatry Services

Our psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals are among the nation’s leading experts in evidence-based therapy, including medical management, for college-age students.

USC launched the nation’s first campus psychiatric practice. Our faculty and staff are leaders in developing mental health care for college-age individuals and student-athletes.

We collaborate closely with other USC organizations that support students, including the Office of Student Accessibility Services, USC Campus Support and Intervention, USC Department of Public Safety and The Haven Outpatient Center.
